10 Pastel Eyeshadow Looks For Every Moment This Spring

By Sophie Joaman • May 9, 2024 • 8 mins read

After a long winter, pastel shades are a refreshing departure from the deep and moody tones of winter and offer us all the promise of exciting new beginnings.

Beyond their symbolic meaning, pastel hues are also known to be elegant and ethereal, making them a timeless choice within makeup.

Timeless, however, doesn’t mean boring and stuck in the past. Pastels are extremely versatile, and there is a pastel colour for every skin tone and style.

With pastel shades as the starting blocks, there are a wide range of looks that can be achieved with this palette of colours, giving you a look for each and every occasion this spring.

We can think of way more than 10 looks that can be achieved with pastel shades, but we’ve narrowed it down to 10 of the hottest eyeshadow looks for every moment this spring that you will undoubtedly love and be wearing to the office and to every party.

Look 1 – Pastel Eye:

The easiest way to get on board with pastel eyeshadow is to opt for an all-over pastel eye—ideal if you are a beginner to makeup. It’s also a good look to go for if you want to try out different shades of pastels to see what works best for you.

The look works by choosing one pastel shade and simply applying it all over the eyelid. After prepping your eyelids, apply a little product to the center of the eyelid and blend out in both directions and upwards towards your brow bone to ensure a good amount of coverage.

You ultimately want the eyeshadow to look uniform and even, so make sure to blend as well as possible. By starting out subtly, you can then go back in and add some more eyeshadow if you do decide to intensify the colour.

Look 2 – Inner corner pop of colour:

Sometimes less is more, and with this look, just a touch of pastel is all you need to shine. That’s why we seriously encourage you to try adding just a pop of colour to the very inner corner of your eyes.

Not only does this help to make the eyes look brighter and bigger, but it’s a super easy and quick way to get your pastel fix this spring. With the rest of the eyelid, you can either opt to keep your shadow shade more neutral or even use a barely there shade.

Or, you can go darker and smokier for a more amped-up glamour style and then pop in that touch of pastel with a small eyeshadow brush to brighten the eyes up. Your makeup will come to life, and you’ll undoubtedly have a spring in your step!

Look 3 – Chrome eye:

For spring eyeshadow that is out of this universe, the chrome eye look is one to consider this spring. This edgier take on classic pastel looks is an utterly mesmerizing, aesthetic look that you are surely going to want to emulate for your next night out.

This look works by placing a shimmery silver or gold eyeshadow onto the eyelids and then layering your pastel chrome/metallic shades on top to create a multidimensional effect.

With this look, experimenting with your technique is a good way to see what works best for you. After all, this is one dramatic look that still has the essence of the glamour of pastel. To complete the chrome look, add some drama with dramatic eyeliner and some strip lashes.

Look 4 – Bold & Vibrant :

Who says pastels can’t be bold and vibrant? Daring to go bold this spring is the way forward, in our opinion, as is experimenting with brighter pastel shades. Think electric greens and vivid lilacs to create that bold, statement look.

To get even more out of this look, you can also blend multiple shades together, creating a gradient effect on your eyes. The key with this look is to focus on the bold colour and make it the center of attention.

Look 5 – Subtle glitter/shimmer:

For those special occasions, or even just a random Tuesday, adding a little glitter/shimmer to your eyeshadow is one of the loveliest ways to wear pastels. There are also two ways you can do this look.

The first is to pick an all-in-one pastel eyeshadow with glitter/shimmer in it. All you have to do at this point is then apply to your eyelids.

You can also complete this look by choosing your desired pastel shade in matte, applying to your eyes, and then going in with a shimmer/glitter on top.

For example, if you’re already wearing a pastel eye during the day but want to amp up the glamour for going out, you can then add some subtle (or not) glitter on top to make your makeup all the more heavenly.

Look 6 – Pink tones:

Barbie is still so 2024, and pink is as timeless as you can get. Pastel pinks are often seen as the default pastel colour as well. While it is seen as the epitome of pastel glamour, pinks certainly have power to them.

From delicate pinks that evoke the blossom of spring to hotter, edgier hues, there is a shade that definitely suits every style.

You can keep it subtle by sweeping a baby pink across your eyelids or you can make it a whole lot dramatic by layering pastel pink shades on top of each other, into the crease and the outer corner of your eyes, blending it for a diffused finish.

Look 7 – Golden & Bronze eye:

The weather may have not heated up just yet, but with this look, your makeup will certainly radiate those feel-good, sun-kissed vibes.

Capture the essence of summer this spring by choosing golden and bronze pastel shades like soft champagnes and delicate bronze hues.

To get the best out of this look, you can start subtle with a neutral shade and then layer on bronzes and coppers into the crease, finishing off with a smokier sweep of shadow on the outer corners of the eyes.

This look also pops when you add some shimmer, so don’t be afraid to go the distance. Plus, the eyes are only one part of your entire makeup look, so pair your gorgeous golden eyes with equally stunning dewy sun-kissed skin, and you’ll be on to a winner.

Look 8 – Peach tones:

Soft peach tones are utterly romantic and ideal for spring, giving you that warmth within your makeup even if you haven’t been in the sun yet. Peach eyeshadows are also flattering for a range of skin tones and create a youthful appearance.

To make this look work best, apply a matte peach shade all over the lid, making sure to blend in well outwards and upwards towards the brow bone.

While you can definitely leave it here, a great way to tie this look together is to deepen the crease with a slightly darker peach shade to add in that dimension. Finish off with plenty of mascara to let your eyes have their statement moment.

Why not tie in your lip colour with your eyes too by adding in a peachy-coloured lipstick. You’ll look ready for a beautiful spring day in minutes!

Look 9 – Unicorn eye:

Unicorns might be a myth, but unicorn eyes certainly aren’t, so embrace your whimsical side with this enchanting look. It’s also super easy to achieve at home in just a few minutes, giving you a magical eye look you’ll be obsessed with. It is pure statement makeup that is ideal for all of those special occasions you have in your diary.

Start by applying a light iridescent eyeshadow to the lid to start building your luminous look and then layer on your chosen pastel shades to the crease and outer corners.

For those ultimate unicorn vibes, you particularly want to think about shades such as lavender, light pinks, and baby blues. Of course, you can also (and should absolutely) add a touch or holographic or chrome glitter to mimic that enchanting, sparkle unicorns are known for. Divine!

Look 10 – Violet tones:

Violet tones are one of the most sophisticated shades out there and make a glamorous spring look whenever you wear them. With Violet pastel tones, you’ll want to go for lilacs, lavenders, light mauves, or eggplant shades to get that luxury feel to your look.

You can also opt for a matte shade in a gentle lilac or lavender as the base of your look and then choose a delicate shimmer to go on top and bring out your eyeshadow.

If you want to step this up even more, you can deepen your look by choosing a slightly darker shade to create a smoky look, perfect for weddings, nights out, and just about any social occasion.

So there you have it, 10 pastel eyeshadow looks for every moment this spring. Whether you’re looking for subtle results or full-on glamour, pastels are some of the most versatile shades out there and can do it all.

The key is to experiment and find your favourite. Which look(s) will you be trying out this spring?
